It's The Economy Stupid: Jobs

Initial Jobless Claims:  403K, economist’s estimates was for 400K.  The prior period number was revised upward to 409K from the initial number of 404K.

 

Continuing Jobless Claims: 3719K, economist’s estimates was for 3690K.  The prior period number was revised upward to 3694K from the initial number of 3670K.

 

The initial jobless claims numbers are stubbornly staying above 400K.  And it seems like all the jobless numbers are revised upwards after the fact.

 

Quote of the day regarding the European Bailout Fund:  “It’s like they are trying to build a room that they can safely explode a bomb in.”  Everyone knows that Greece is going to default on its debt in some form or fashion.  They are just trying to ‘manage’ it in a way that it doesn’t take down the European banking system (and the rest of us with them).
