Okay, I have one word for you. Volatility! The Dow was down over 200 points at one point during the day and finished up 153 points. The S&P 500, Russell 3000, and NASDAQ Composite all ended up well over 2% today.
Why? Soothing tones from Bernanke? A good bank/bad bank plan from France? No bad economic news? Shorts covering their positions? Fundamentals?
Who knows! All of the above, none of the above, some of the above, any of the above. The markets needed a break.
