It's The Economy Stupid: Lot's of Numbers

Okay, there are so many numbers this morning because of the holiday.  Let’s see if we can make sense of this. 

 

First time unemployment claims rose. Not so good for this period, but trend this year is better.

 

Durable goods orders fell (demand for airplanes and business equipment cooled).  Not so good for this period, but recent orders not in this number could change that in the future.

 

Personal spending declined.  Not so good, but the trend sense 2009 is still upward.

 

Risk to global bonds is definitely on the rise because of Europe.

 

Pig futures should trade downward today due to Arkansas playing LSU.
