WWJD? – What Will Janet Do?
U.S. stocks rose again today, following the largest weekly gain this year for the S&P 500 Index, before Federal Reserve Chairman Janet Yellen delivers her first report on monetary policy tomorrow. The S&P 500 rose over 2 points to 1,799. The Dow Jones index rose over 7 points to 15801. The NASDAQ, RUSSELL, and Wilshire U.S. stock indices were up too.
Crude Oil and Natural Gas sold off today, Gold and Silver rose, while Currencies were mixed.
Yellen will speak on monetary policy and the outlook for the economy tomorrow for the first time after being sworn in as the central bank’s head on Feb. 3. The Fed chairman will testify before the House Financial Services Committee in a semi-annual report.
